Israel
October 1999
Israel has to be one of the craziest places to travel in the Middle-East, which means it is also one of the most interesting. It attracts people of all sorts, the religious from every religion, politicians, journalists, humanitarians and curious travelers like me. I know that most people really don’t understand the conflict here and visiting will give you a bit of an insight but it won’t give you all the answers.

This is the view from the top of the old Jersusalem city walls down to the Damascus gate entrance to the city. There is always a market just outside the city walls and people are packed in. Pick-pockets love this area and we encountered a few of them.
The old city of Jerusalem is amazing in itself because it feels OLD. Unlike any other place I have been to, it is easy to walk down the winding stone streets and feel that is must have been the same 2000 years ago.
