Belize
Central America
December 2007

Kristen and I travelled to Belize for a short 10-day trip in early December of 2007. Belize is a small country that was formerly known as British Honduras and thus the official language is English. It’s location south of Mexico and on the west side of the Caribbean Sea contributes to its diverse ethnic character and charming cultural variety.

Belize is a small country, only 288 km long and 100 km wide at its widest point. A low population of 300,000 means that this country is not crowded at all and there is still lots of space for large natural areas to exist. Belizeans take environmental conservation seriously so I expect that we will see unspoiled wilderness well into the future.
