Climbing Mt Fable
East of Banff National Park
November 2004

This is a short photo journal of the trip up Mt. Fable that Daymon Miller and I did in late November, 2004. The front-ranges of the Rocky Mountains provide some reasonable scrambling late in the season, but the snow on this mountain made it a long 10-hour day. We started just after sunrise and finished 1.5 hours after sunset, dog-tired.

Mt Fable has a 1.5-hour hike before you start to gain elevation and the total gain is 1325m. Lots of scree makes it a tough slog and the top is technical with lots of exposure, especially in the snow.

Fortunately, we had blue sky all day and were dressed warmly for the high winds and blowing snow. The views were spectacular.
