Hey Everyone,
Just thought I'd check in considering there was a bus crash that killed 4 Canadians in South Africa. I'm in Mbeya, Tanzania at the moment and just finished a nice hike up a 2500 meter peak. Tomorrow I'm heading into Malawi.
Had a conversation last night about the signs that we see everywhere around the world that have funny English written on them and thought I'd share it with you. The conversation was prompted by me reading aloud the sign in the restaurant we were in. "Silence Please!" A bit of an odd and mildly amusing sign to have in a restaurant. Only eating, no talking??
In Nairobi restaurants they like to put up signs saying "Polite Notice: No idle sitting". They also have these big red posters everywhere that say "Stop being corrupt. If you are corrupt you will be arrested and punished!"
However, last night I heard about the best one yet. Richard from the UK told us about a sign in a restaurant in Lamu, Kenya that said "Enjoy your meal. But please feel yourself at home."
